• Kyanite has a high melting point and low thermal conductance 

• Kyanite is used to manufacture a wide range of products from bricks to kiln furniture 

• Cannot be soaked in water 

• Mohs Hardness: 4.5-7 

• Kyanite has a hardness of 4.5 -5 when tested parallel to the long axis but when tested parallel to the short axis the hardness is around 6-7.
